Destiny 2's new transmog system is incredibly confusing and involves detrition bounties for some reason

We've known for a perennial time immediately that a transmog system of rules, enabling players to fit themselves in whatever styles they like without having to sacrifice stats, is happening the way to Luck 2. Our resident Destiny devotee Tim Clark was very pleased with the news: "As an addicted lover of playing habilitate-upwards with my space soldiers, this is or s of the best news I've detected in this otherwise cursed year," he aforementioned in October 2020.

Today Bungie discovered how that new "Armour Synthesis" system will work, and I have to wonder how—operating theater if—his exuberance will take hold up. Armor Synthesis, as it's called, will enable players to convert their armor's coming into court into Universal Armor Ornaments, then they can effectively change up their look A they suchlike. Simply information technology's going to take quite an bit of work to make it happen.

To get, players must earn "Synthstrand" by violent death enemies; once 150 Synthstrand is earned, it can be off in to Ada-1 in the Loom in exchange for class-precise bounties which will present "Synthcord." Synthcord can past be regenerate to Synthweave at the Loom in the Tower, and then finally Synthweave can be used to convert unlocked armor appearances (Fabled or lower) in your collection into a Universal Armor Ornament.

Few examples of bounties:

Vanguard

  • Complete playlists strikes using taxonomic group subclasses.
  • Accumulate points in Nightfall strikes.

Crucible

  • Capture zones in Crucible Control matches.
  • Complete Crucible matches and defeat opponents using specific damage types Eastern Samoa a team up.

Gambit

  • Send and defeat blockers in Gambit.
  • Defeat Primeval Envoys, high value targets and Primevals in Gambit.

Destinations

  • Defeat Nightmares on whatsoever goal or in Nightmare Hunts.
  • Licking bosses spell defending the Blind Well within the Dreaming Metropolis.

Raids and Dungeons

  • Finished the final encounter of any Raid or Donjon.
  • Generate Orbs of Power in raids or dungeons.

Quite a why Bungie felt what ought to be a popular quality of life melioration also needed to be lashed to the bounty mill, lonesome they wish know.

There's also another catch: Players can take in a maximum of ten Synthweave per season, per class, meaning a maximum of two sperm-filled ensembles. (The initial temper offers double the amount of money, as a gesture of goodwill.)

Want more? Then you'atomic number 75 going to have to clave the Eververse Store, where you can purchase Synthweave templates individually for 300 Silver, surgery in bundles of five for 1000 Silver. Destiny 2 Silver, for the enter, costs $5 for a lot of 500, with fillip quantities of Ash grey added to high-priced bundles.

I haven't played Fortune 2 for a years and so it's possible that there's a dependable reason for all this rigamarole, but to my eye it looks—at best—wildly and unnecessarily complicated. From a slightly more cynical perspective, information technology can as wel easily be seen as a non-besides-subtle nudge toward the real-money Eververse Store: You tooshie dick around all day for a finite number of appearance changes, or you rump just give suck it rising, spend few bucks, and be done with it.

Predictably, the new system did not meet with adaptable favourable reception.

Bungie also discovered some changes coming to shaders, which are used to change the color and shading on Custodial armor. The Legendary Shard requirement to apply shaders is being born, which is prissy, but the cost to purchase them from the Eververse Put in is jumping from 40 to 300 Bright Dust. That's gone over well too.

The transmog system is expected to go live "in just a few short weeks," but even though all the details are in send, this may non equal the final word on that. The reaction to the system (and the shader changes) is very widely disinclined, and Bungie senior community director dmg04 thanked players for feedback on Twitter and asked them to "keep it coming."

"As always, we're in this for the long haul," he tweeted. "Looking overbold to seeing y'all get your hands on Armor Synthesis."

That likely won't be a problem: At the clock time of authorship, "Bungie" was trending with "Transmog" on Twitter.
